With those comments, I can very well understand why the cop is angry and just wants to leave. The one thing I can’t understand is that Nikki didn’t get angry at Ashley after the previous frame and just told her to shut up.
If Ashley did that to me on such a serious topic, I’d have kicked her straight out the door (“Go cool off and come back later”)
Good point Melissa -you’re right. Fact is, I did have a couple of panels showing Nikki irritated with Ashley -but ultimately I decided to omit them because they didn’t fit on the page and I didn’t want to prolong the story by adding another page.
Thanks for the explanation, Tim. To be honest, I think in this case that one extra page might have been a good decision after all… ah well, we’ll just wait and see where the story takes us next 🙂
This is ‘fiction’ after all; just for fun stuff 🙂 Never be too worried about ‘realism’ when fantasy & fiction is the theme. The last thing we need is another crime-drama CSI-style.
This guy is a jerk, blowing off their legitimate issues. That’s his -JOB-. And it’s not like she has a reputation for pranks or causing trouble.
Kidnapping? Breaking and entering? Theft? That’s serious and should be treated as such. The fact that nothing was stolen does not change this.
Of course there’s a possibility that it was a student prank. It still warrants investigation. If it turned out to be a prank, someone should be in big trouble.
But, I agree with Melissa that Nikkie should have gotten upset with Ashley. She really should have told her to shut up or even leave. If she had done that it would a) make it clear to Ashley that she’s fed up with that behavior and b) suggest to the guard that, despite her friend’s comments, she’s very serious.
Yes, this is fiction and “fun stuff.” I tried to read it as such. And, up to this point, I could tolerate Ashley’s… quirks. But this is rather ridiculous. It’s almost like Ashley intentionally sabotaged the situation with her words.

Melissa, you’re right. Ashley is NOT helping in any way shape or form.

Ashley is fun – and perpetually FRUSTRATED.
