Waiting too. But TDK did say he’s busy, so pushing him will NOT help.
After work cools down (hopefully it already did a bit), there’s a high chance he needs some time for himself and significant others. After that, he hopefully finds time to return to his hobby.
Let’s vote, that way he also sees, that we haven’t abandoned hope in his return.
Good point, Krulle, and we all would understand those real life priorities – nobody begrudges an artist their right to family, loved ones, and gainful employment. I guess the real frustration/disgruntlement comes from the lack of any response from TK.
If you say you’ll be back in a couple of weeks and then it’s three months later – with no quick update to say, “sorry, it’s going to be a bit longer, folks” – that leads to, well, this. Sixty comments all saying the same thing: are you there? Is Nikki ever coming back? Are you okay? Should we delete this bookmark? etc….
Well, as I stated before, even if it takes 2 months between page updates, I’ll still be here. I do agree with Whattamaroon, though… I know several of us are getting worried if something happened. A short message like “I’ll be back in 3 months” or even something like “temporarily on hiatus, I’m way too busy in work and RL”, would be greatly appreciated.
Sure, it would be.
But from experience I know that sometime it is better to not have a look at a project like this.
It just frustrates yourself if you do and know that you want but can’t.
We’ll have to wait.
And indeed, I hope he and his beloved ones are alright, but having read that he still logs in to his deviantartaccount, I presume he is alright.
BTW: if he looses fans, that’s a pity indeed. But if he comes back, with the same quality he’s been delivering, he’ll collect the same fans and others back rather quickly. And the fans who drop first are likely less interested in the story than in certain aspects of the artwork.
Life changes, and sometimes you want to tone down certain aspects in projects you have, but don’t know how to do that. Once we’re over the initial chapters and getting to the real story, I believe we’ll see less of certain aspects of the art, TKD will have less time to indulge in that if he wants to move the story forward.
But maybe he just needs some time to write himself out of a corner he believes he has written himself into.
If necessary, do it Peter F. Hamilton style: use a big, unlikely hammer and destroy the whole built-up story (ever read the Night’s Dawn trilogy?. Great story, perfect built-up, absolute let-down in resolving the mystery).
Don’t. Leave the man be. He hasn’t responded here or on DA (where he has been logging on regularly). He’s just not going to respond, for whatever reason. As these two sites deal specifically with his self-created, part-time art, I’d say it’s fine to reach out to him through those channels. Indeed, he has, previously, been very solicitous of feedback here and at DA.
But don’t bother the man at his job. It’s not our place or our right to do so, imho.
Again, all signs point to his being just fine, but just not wanting to communicate with the followers of his side projects. That’s his prerogative.
This long without so much as a “Sorry guys, I am bailing out”
Screw it, deleting this site from my favorites.. might check it out in a year, I am thinking this site is offically dead.
Pity. One down.
Anyway, Whattamaroon is right.
Calling the man at his work is not a good thing and might even lead to problems for him.
Running a site with a content like this is anyway not appreciated in most firms, and being distracted from work by unkown callers referring to a site like this will very likely not be appreciated by his superiors.
Hopefully he is watching our comments, for the rest we’ll have to wait and see.
Found this site after reading a top 10 list of adult themed web comics, maybe the added attention killed some of the fun/too much pressure.
Love this comic and the art style and hope it’s not dead.
Anyway, hope everything is ok with TK and family, work, life and hope he returns to finish the adventures of Nikki and friends.
Don’t be silly, Krulle. The guy’s job is as an “Animator” – this is the stuff he does professionally. It isn’t like he works at a bank and runs a strip club on the side. A guy doesn’t put a totally public website up like this if he’s worried about publicity. Besides, I’m not saying call up and talk about comic strips. You wouldn’t have to mention it. All it would take his calling and saying “Hi, is Tim Doherty there?” You might get anything from “sure, just a second” to “sorry, he’s deceased.”
Alcazar, we know he’s not deceased. He logged on to Deviant Art within the last 20 hours. He’s just choosing not to communicate or, apparently, continue Nikki. Drop the whole “contact him at work” thing as it crosses a line. For what it’s worth, as much as I have loved what TK was doing here, this is just a webcomic in the end and if it’s dead, it’s dead. Give the man his privacy.
Just sayin’ you could if you wanted to. I’m not gonna, and not suggesting it (though it looks like I did above). He’s not been back to this site, apparently.
Well, I’ll keep coming back and hoping for any news from Tim. Right now I’ve come to the point where I don’t even care so much about the next update of the comic… I just want to know how Tim is doing. I’m not going to call him at work, though… this site is/was a passion of his, and if he’s consciously ignoring it (and us) at the moment, then he will probably have a good reason for that.
the artist will put up more stuff when the artist wants to. no webcomic artist is required to do dick for you people. they do this for themselves.. hense the term ARTIST!!!. they could update once a year for all it matters to readers
It’s not just the lack of an update, Nekki, it’s the fact that there hasn’t even been a news post since June. At the very least a post saying it’s on an indefinite hiatus or that he’s no longer gonna work on it would be helpful.
I just want a periodic note saying “I’m still planing to make more at some time in the future.” or for him to finally say “I’m done, no more”.
I don’t mind waiting as long as necessary for a good comic, I just want to know the wait isn’t in vain.
Another comic I read hasn’t posted in ages, but he finally was able to post through an intermediary that the country he’s posted at (in the military) has blocked ALL access to his site because it’s porn.
BTW: for those who are here for the nice images, there’s merceneiress, a very nice comic of a free-lance headhunter, her background and erotic vote-incentives.
go look up elf only inn. dude always just dropped off the face of the earth sometimes for years without a word. they have no requirement to do anything to let you know what they are up to.
Well, whatever is going on, I hope he is able to post again soon. I really enjoyed this comic and want to see how it ends.
Although, I do know that sometimes there are things that go on, that a person can’t talk about easily or at all. Try not to be to hard on him and definitely don’t bother him at work as it can make someone who is planning on coming back, not come back at all.
Tim, I don’t know where you are or what’s happening in your life, but via this way I would still like to wish you a happy birthday, I hope all is well, and I hope that someday you’ll be able to post an update here and let us know how you’re doing.
In the end this is just a comic. One of many I read and enjoyed, which is why I still check back once a week to see if there’s been an update. In a month or two I’ll change that to checking once a month. Maybe in a year I’ll stop checking entirely but only because it was such a phenomenal comic. Meanwhile there are many others out there I enjoy just as much if not more. It isn’t the end of the world if this one has died and it certainly isn’t a reason to disturb the man at his job as Whatamoron said. Many comics I loved died just like this and I’m sure more will. Life goes on.
Check out “Too Much Information,” “Dark Sisters” [warning Very Mature] , “Tomorrow’s Girl’s,” “Consequences of Choice” and “Requiem” they are all decent to great poser series. “Dragon girl Noriko” is currently on hiatus but promises to return at some point or i would have added it to the list. I’ve also recently discovered “Muse of a Knight” and “Crimson Dark” but haven’t read them well enough to recommend them. Non-Poser comics I would recommend are “Exiern,” “The Becoming,” “Wayward Sons,” “Yosh!” “El Goonish Shive,” “Masked Manor,” “Locus,” “Holiday Wars” and “Bullfinch.” Believe me everyone should find something they like in that list, enjoy.
It’s not only this pal, maybe the guy had some accident. We don’t worry about the comic! Not to have post I’ll stop or something? Before, he’d let us know if he had a one day trip.
Anyone who’s really worried about it can call the guy up and ask him if he’s okay and/or if he’s going to continue the strip. His contact information, including his phone number, are public record and posted openly in the nikkisprite dot com website registration information at Whois dot net, which means he’s open to having people call him. If it bothers you that much, give him a call. If not, don’t worry about it.
It also appears that he renewed his domain last month, so he doesn’t plan on killing Nikki off for at least another year. I say we remain patient and hope that whatever is keeping him silent will end and this awesome comic will resume.
In the meantime, I suggest we respect the man’s privacy and await his return.

Sorry to hear about the tragic accident.
Tragic accident?!?!?
What Accident??
I think 50 is the limit on this comment thing. I can only see 3 comments. what happened in the accident.
hit the previous comments link, alchemar. also, nobody said anything about an accident, except alcazar.
Not funny, Alcazar.
The stage collapsing at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Of course it’s not funny!

Contact ImagineNation Entertainment, where Tim works, to ask if he’s okay.

Come on guys!!! You gotta update at least once a week, otherwise, close and end this comic!! It’s a great comic, but please…. NO more excuses!

@ImNotHere-time for him to learn the joys of a proxy server 😉
You guys have all sorts of reasons for not wanting to ask anyone who might actually know, but I think you must just enjoy not knowing.
And you like calling attention to the problem without doing anything but prod at the people suffering from it. Guess that makes you a troll, then.
BTW: for those who are here for the nice images, there’s merceneiress, a very nice comic of a free-lance headhunter, her background and erotic vote-incentives.
In a Sci-Fi setting.
Just in case you’re interested.

Were coming on 3 month without a peep from TK, I hate to say it but I think I’m going to call it. September 12 2011
go look up elf only inn. dude always just dropped off the face of the earth sometimes for years without a word. they have no requirement to do anything to let you know what they are up to.
I called the number, but I just got a recorded message.

Well – 4 months to the day ! still hoping for even a brief explanation . This strip has been the best-drawn on of the dozens I follow .
Anyone who’s really worried about it can call the guy up and ask him if he’s okay and/or if he’s going to continue the strip. Most domains are on auto-renew. That just means his credit card’s still valid.
